HIAA SYMPOSIUM REGISTRATION
Registration remains open for HIAA's Second Biennial Symposium, on the theme of Objects, Collections and Cultures, to be held at the Freer and Sackler Galleries in Washington, D.C., 21-23 October 2010. The conference will begin on Thursday evening, 21 October, with an opening address by Freer and Sackler director Julian Raby, to be followed by a reception. We also are pleased to confirm that a special exhibition, curated by Massumeh Farhad, will be on view at the Sackler Gallery during the symposium: The Shahnama: 1000 Years of the Persian Book of Kings.
The full symposium program and registration form are available through the links below. Please note the option to pay the registration fee using PayPal. Please also note that the symposium program includes simultaneous workshops, focused on individual works of art in the Freer and Sackler collections. Space at these sessions is limited, and attendence will be on a first-come (i.e. first sign-up), first-served basis, using the symposium registration form.
Beides the sessions and activities at FSG, there will be a second symposium reception on Friday evening, 22 October at The Textile Museum, to include a tour of the exhibition Colors of the Oasis: Central Asian Ikats with curator Sumru Krody. HIAA is grateful to The Textile Museum for hosting and co-sponsoring this special event.
