Postdoctoral position in Islamic Art at the Institute of Art History, University of Vienna

At the University of Vienna (15 Faculties, 3 Centres, ca. 170 study programmes, ca. 8.200 staff members and ca. 72.000 students) the position of a University Assistant (post-doc) is to be filled by 1 October 2019. The position belongs to the Institute of Oriental Studies (conventionally: Department of Near Eastern Studies) which has about 45 collaborators who mainly work in four fields of research and teaching: Ancient Near Eastern studies, Arabic studies, Islamic studies and Turkish studies. The key field in Arabic studies is the investigation of spoken varieties of Arabic on both diachronic and synchronic levels. In this particular field large third-party funded research projects are carried out. Currently there are more than 500 students enrolled in the BA, MA, and PhD programmes of the Institute. The position is limited to 31.01.2021.
