Once HIAA receives PayPal notification of your dues payment, your membership account will be activated and you will have access to members-only sections of the website. Please also be advised that HIAA membership is on a calendar-year basis (January-December, with renewal due no later than the next January), regardless of when dues payment is made.

HIAA Majlis and Biennial Symposium

HIAA members only are eligible to participate in HIAA’s program of scholarly meetings, including the on-going majlis, usually held in conjunction with the annual meetings of the College Art Association or Middle East Studies Association, and the Biennial Symposium series. In addition, HIAA members will receive the benefit of a special, reduced registration rate for the next Symposium.

Grabar Grants and Fellowships

This new program of competitive awards is available to HIAA members only.

Margaret B. Ševčenko Prize in Islamic Art and Culture

The Ševčenko Prize is awarded annually to the best unpublished essay written by a junior scholar (pre-dissertation graduate student up to three years after the Ph.D. degree). The annual competition is open to HIAA members only. Recipients receive an award of $500 and their essays considered for publication in the journal Muqarnas.
